Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is committed to providing a safe, child-centered environment which offers students the maximum opportunity to learn and achieve academic success. Our mission is to help our students acquire literacy and become critical thinkers through a curriculum that is rich, balanced and aligned with performance standards.

Our resources are limited, and we need your help.

These materials are for multiple third grade classes that are located in New York City. Our school's budget was cut over $848,000 for the 2018-2019 school year. Our administration has already informed the teachers that supplies will be very limited next year because of these budget cuts.

Nearly all of our students are from low-income households and have extremely limited resources. Our elementary school has grades PreK-5 and houses over 800 students in two separate buildings. Basic materials have become difficult to acquire for our Title I school.

My Project

I am asking for Lakeshore washable markers, sidewalk chalk and glue sticks. These supplies are not only for our art period but also for decorating their published writing pieces, drawing a favorite character or setting, creating bar graphs, pictographs, making holiday cards and gifts and countless other activities that I have planned for this exciting year. The students will learn how to draw, use space, color, shade and create with these markers.

My goal for every year is to make our school year together one of the most memorable of the student's lives.

The projects that the students complete will inspire them, make them believe in themselves and give them the confidence to take artistic chances.
