Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work in a Title 1 school, which means the vast majority of my students live below the poverty line. We are unable to fundraise much from our families, and our budget for supplies is very limited. That is why I turn to the Donors Choose Community to help me.

Many of my students are ENL learners.

They are learning English, and focusing on vocabulary is so important. I recently had the pleasure of attending a professional development opportunity focused on meeting the needs of ENL students in the Art room. One strategy used was having tabletop vocabulary boards that coincide with important terminology being taught in the unit. I love how these tabletop boards but important visual aids right in front of the students. I would love to create this in my classroom!

I have seven table and four grades, so in order to have enough supplies for each table for each unit - I need a lot of stands as well as bins to store them neatly. I will use contact paper for extra protection of the materials I make so they can be used over and over again. Thank you for helping me help my English language learners.
