My Students

My artists are in grades K-8. I teach the expressive discipline of art to almost the entire school. We are a Title I school with children who are mostly from a low socio-economic background. Most of them have transient living situations and the only safe, welcoming place they have to express their ideas and emotions regularly and creatively is the art room. I try to vary the materials and learning experiences to address and engage all types of learners and keep their natural curiosity heightened.

My Project

Last Spring, due to COVID I had a crash course in digital learning platforms. As an Art teacher, Nearpod was the star program because of the depth of art content and interactive qualities for my students. This school year the Gold Plan, which suits the numbers of art students I can have in a remote setting and allows storage of materials I create for them for so many grade levels, is no longer free to educators. Please help me continue to provide this engaging art content to my blended remote artists, as well as any children I am fortunate enough to have rotated into our school building. We used Nearpod to immerse ourselves in the art of Egypt, Greece, India, Mexico, worldwide art museums, and more. Help me to build on these lessons and more.
