My Project

I have been working in an urban high school for a decade and each year I grow more in love with my job and the students. A lot of my students suffer from mental health issues and struggle with depression and anxiety. They also come from low economic house holds.

I finally have enough space in my office to start an Art Therapy wing where my students can express themselves through art.

Given so many of them suffer with anxiety and depression,

Art therapy will use drawing, painting and other art-based practices as a way to connect, and to develop a therapeutic relationship. Not only does it allow students to express emotions, it provides behavioral support and stress management. Many of my students are very creative but there is no outlet here at the high school for them to express themselves. With the help of your donation my students can finally have that.
