Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I absolutely love my students for their generosity, creativity, and willingness to help others. They are not just artists—they are active citizens in our school community, always volunteering to beautify spaces and offering their artistic talents to make a difference. Now, I want to provide them with something meaningful just for them—a creative outlet that can also support their mental well-being.

The gouache paints and markers I am requesting will allow my students to create beautiful mixed-media mandala art, a form of art therapy designed to help them express their emotions and find calm through creativity.

We will explore how colors influence mood and well-being, focusing on colors that bring them happiness and calmness. By guiding them through lessons on the emotional impact of color and the soothing nature of patterns, I hope to give them a space to unwind, reflect, and relax during their busy school days.

My goal for this project is to help my students explore their feelings through the power of art while developing their creative skills. These materials will enable them to express themselves in a therapeutic way, creating artwork that reflects their inner thoughts and emotions. Through this process, they will gain not only a deeper understanding of art but also tools to manage stress and nurture their mental health.

My students are incredibly special because of the heart and soul they put into everything they do, whether it's contributing to the community or helping each other grow as artists. They deserve the opportunity to have a creative outlet that focuses on their own well-being, and this project will give them just that.
