Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My youngest students are 4 years old and my oldest are 15 years old (preK-8th grade). I love the diversity of our school and learning about each and everyone of them and what makes them so special.

All my students are unique and are seen as individuals with their own strength and resources.

I am amazed every time I see how much resilience children have and how much they can achieve when they know that someone believes in them. The sky is the limit for them... and I want to offer them the world.

My Project

Art therapy is a great way to help students explore, manage and better understand themselves and the world around them.

During art therapy we use different tools such as beads, clay, paint etc to help students improve their self esteem, work on their communication skills, learn how to manage conflicts, and coping skills to deal with anxiety, depression and other mental health issues.

I plan on using these supplies with students referred to me by their parents, peers and/or teachers.

I will also use these supplies in bigger group settings to work on healthy expression of feelings and communication skills.
