This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

School without Art Education is no fun at all. Visual Arts is another form of creative expression and it is the preferred mode of learning for some students. I always try to incorporate Art lessons to enrich my students' academics. But our limited resources make it difficult to achieve.

I teach 24 wonderful second graders who come from very diverse backgrounds.

Most of them are second language learners and are considered 'at-risk' students. Despite their limited English skills, they are very eager to learn and very much interested in Visual Arts. They love to work with new materials and create Art.

My Project

I am requesting Art supplies that will definitely change our lives. We need glitter paint, washable watercolors, markers, paintbrushes, and wiggly eyes. Because of budget cuts my students no longer get an Art teacher and our resources are limited. I am the one who provides Art lessons with very little resources. I have found that during Art is when my students are totally engaged and feel free to express themselves. They are not scared to make mistakes and are willing to try out new things. They love to learn about Picasso, Matisse, and other artists.

We have worked with crayons, oil pastels, and watercolors.

Unfortunately our watercolors are old, broken, and missing some colors. We had to throw some away. We definitely need new ones so we can continue to create Art. With these Art supplies my students will continue to express their creativity and learn different forms of Visual Arts. It is important for me that my students experience all types of Art materials. Please help my students get the Art supplies we so desperately need.
