My Students

Many teenagers have a hard time expressing themselves, especially when in school and around their peers. The way that my students like to express their feelings is through extracurricular activities such as ART! I currently teach 7th grade Art in a Title 1 school.

I teach in a NYC school and work with a great amount of motivated students, who want to create works of art!

The amount of money allocated to teachers to spend on supplies keeps decreasing! My students are suffering from this and it is just not fair.

My Project

The obstacle that my students are facing is the lack of art supplies available to them. My students look forward to art class, because it allows them to be "free." The resources that we are lacking are creative supplies! I am asking for donations of glue sticks, construction paper, glitter paper, crayons, glitter, wiggle eyes, scratch art, tissue paper, and foam items. I am also asking for a storage box to store all of the supplies. I have many creative ideas that I want to share with the students, but we cannot do so until we have the supplies. With these resources, my students would be introduced to many new opportunities to be creative!

I truly believe that there are many lessons available to students through art. Children gain confidence and growth through expressing themselves. I am excited to introduce new ideas to them. Thank you.
