My Students

As a teacher in a low-income school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Our school does not have enough funds for art supplies. Despite the challenges, I am setting high expectations for the students to create strong artworks with low quality materials.

My students are extremely creative and talented, and deserve to have the proper art materials in order to create high quality artwork.

The materials make a big difference in between student and professional looking artworks. I want these art students to be able to create their artworks without any limitations.

My Project

These art supplies will make a huge difference in my classroom. Majority of students in my classroom can not afford art materials. I teach Introduction to art, drawing, and AP Studio art. I have 210 students total in all of my classes. I am trying to build the Visual and Performing Art’s Magnet at my school. But the art supplies are necessary with my large class sizes and magnet program. The printer paper will be used to print my AP students artwork for the college board. Their artworks are used for their portfolios for art school. The color wheel will be used for all of my art students to understand color theory. The oil pastels will be used for all of my classes to create textures in their artworks.
