Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

This year I am teaching a gifted kindergarten class. Well aware of the low socio economic status of many of my students one of my goals is to expose them to as many different art activities as possible. Kindergarten is the foundation of all learning and students should be able to create different things and learn in various ways.

Many of my students enjoy drawing and are constantly asking when will they be able to paint? I am very sincere in telling them that I still have to get supplies for the class.

We do not have an easel to paint and the paints that were left in our classroom are almost empty. I like to give my children responsibilities and by having a construction paper storage in the classroom, they will take responsibility for getting their own paper and most importantly, the papers will be organized. As a kindergarten teacher I always have to cut papers into different sizes. I cut whatever papers I must with scissors which takes up so much time. A paper trimmer would increase our time for instruction.

You will make it possible for my students to enhance their Art skills. Gifted and talented students should be exposed to various activities and that is exactly what I wish for my children. You will make it possible for my students to express themselves in a different way.
