Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

With 70% Hispanic and 40% active English Learners, our Title I school's multicultural makeup is both one of our main characteristics and biggest strengths. Our students share much learning and joy with our community each day, and share their cultures and backgrounds with our school community both explicitly and through their implicit actions each day. This project seeks funding for an initiative sponsored by our School Spirit Committee.

The art supplies purchased through this project will be used by tens of students across the building to decorate ceiling tiles in the entrance area of the building, depicting both their families' home cultures (mainly from Latin America) and our school's space pioneer theme.

We aspire to turn our standard entryway into a colorful celebration of multiculturalism, to capture and affirm the value that each student brings to our learning community. Paintings will be done as a club activity, and we hope to recognize students who participate in this activity, which will become a fixture of our building for years to come!
