Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I run the new Community Service Club at my school. Our main project, which we started at the end of last year, is to help improve the lives of children in hospitals and hospices by filling their rooms with arts and crafts that we create after-school. Right now we need new supplies because the supply I initially bought ran out. We have approximately over 100 students who come in at least once a week to volunteer, and they vary in age from nine to seventeen years old. We still have paint left over but we need new art paper so we can make some colorful paintings. We also want to create crafts to decorate the rooms from foam, such as butterflies, caterpillars, flower pots, and door hangers. The donations will go to 5 hospitals we have partnered with in New York City. This project is a great experience for our students because we are able to discuss how important it is to help people less fortunate. Since our school is a high-need school, it is important for our students to reflect on the blessings that they have been given and take time out of their lives to learn the value of helping others. I feel this project is very special, and we could really use some help. Thank you for taking the time to read this proposal; people like you will re-affirm to my students that there are people out there who care about making the world a better place.
