This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Everyday is a struggle to artistically inspire my 5th graders with such a small amount of supplies and no funding. We have all but run out of the arts and craft supplies I purchased in September. We have been making due with what we have but we have almost nothing left!

I teach a very diverse group of fifth graders in a NYC Public School.

As the general education teacher of an ICT class (Integrated Co-Teaching), I co-teach with a wonderful special educator. We have 30 students, 14 of which are classified as special needs children and 16 of which are general education students. They are a wonderful group of loving and diverse children whose families come from all over the world. Their abilities range all across the board but we have done everything in our power to make there be no difference between any of our students. Working with my students this year has made me appreciate being able to teach all different types of learners. I feel completely blessed to have worked with my wonderful 30 children this year.

My Project

Many of my special education students excel in the arts. However, with our supplies at an all time low, it is increasingly difficult to create hands on arts projects in which these students can showcase their talents. In order for my students to show off their skills, I have requested a large supply of colorful construction paper, a class supply of colored pencils and easy to use squeeze tube glues. These supplies would allow my students to create amazing things and to feel such an extreme sense of pride!

Please donate and help to fund this project for all of my students.

By donating you will be giving a wide range of learners the ability to show off their talents and also you will add more arts into the classroom. I truly appreciate all you can do, but more importantly my students thank you!
