My Project

I teach at an alternative school for at-risk students. Our students are here because, for one reason or another, traditional public school just didn't work out for them. Our kids have been through a lot in their lives but we do our best to help them be successful. I started an art class last year and it has been amazing. It is our first ever class in the arts and to see these students have a creative outlet has been incredible.

The earth without "art" is just "eh." This is a quote I see often and it is so true.

The artwork my students have produced really shows beauty, creativity, and energy. I love that it has given them an outlet and allows them to showcase their talents. It can also be quite therapeutic. They have so much going on outside of school, that it can really be a good release to come to school and get to create. They enjoy having an elective that they are interested in.
