This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The art supplies requested, such as canvas bags and vinyl water bottles, offer students a unique opportunity for hands-on, personalized art creation that aligns with their sensory preferences and learning styles. These items provide a tactile, durable canvas for students to express themselves creatively through painting, drawing, or decorating, fostering both artistic skills and self-expression. Working with canvas bags and vinyl water bottles also encourages fine motor skill development as students engage in activities like coloring, painting, and applying stickers or stencils. These activities can help improve focus, coordination, and problem-solving while also building confidence in students as they complete tangible, personal projects they can take pride in. Additionally, customizing practical items like bags and water bottles makes the art experience both meaningful and functional, allowing students to use their creations in everyday life.

What makes these students special is their unique way of interacting with the world.

Many have autism, and this means they may have specific sensory sensitivities or preferences, such as seeking out tactile experiences or needing more structured activities. Some students may also experience challenges in verbal communication or social interaction, making creative, hands-on activities like art a powerful outlet for self-expression. The combination of personalized, sensory-friendly art projects and the meaningful context of Lunar New Year allows these students to engage in a way that aligns with their strengths, offering them an opportunity for success, connection, and celebration.
