Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I service a community of students that are diverse socially, economically and academically. They are highly inquisitive, have a strong commitment to investigating, pursuing and seeing social justice, in its various forms, activated in their personal and public lives.

Students see this pursuit in their academic lives by being active in various student led initiatives: a sit in to protest police brutality, poetry, visual arts and music, open mic/poetry cafe to bring attention to unheard or underrepresented voices within and outside the school community.

Students are empathetic and look for ways their academic studies are realized in the real world.

My Project

Students have looked at multimedia productions that address issues of social justice and questioned, "Can I do that?" Or questioned, "How do I do that?" Along with academic papers and in class discussions, students have displayed their knowledge through art. They have created various styles of poetry, songs, and music to express their research and findings other than the traditional academic presentations.

Students want to create and learn to produce professional recordings that display their voice and knowledge and honor their academic, artistic and intellectual capabilities in collaboration with their studies of social justice issues.

Celebrate Black teachers and kids! This project supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of students are Black.

Equity Focus
