Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Art therapy is a wonderful and retorative way for children to relax after state standardized testing. My students are very creative and love to express themselves through art. I have designed two projects to help them destress after the test and to tap into their artistic side.

Students will create an abstract painting using a canvas panel, a variety of different colored sharpies, and rubbing alcohol.

First students will color the canvas panels using several different colors of sharpies. Then they will use pipetttes to drop rubbing alcohol onto the canvas panels. The rubbing alcohol will turn the sharpies into paint that flows into different shapes and patterns. No two paintings will look alike.

For the next project, students will design their own mandalas using pictures of mandalas for inspiration, a ruler, a pencil, and paper. Students will use the markers to color in their completed pictures.

Your donations will enable me to provide my students with an opportunity to express their artistic talent. I can't wait to share their creativity with you.
