Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

For the last 14 years, my students received art instruction “a la carte” where I traveled to their classroom to teach. This year we got an Art Studio! This is the first time for most of my students to experience a room solely for creating art. I want to create a space where they can make choices, get inspired by materials, and feel their creativity flow. The black foam core and hangers will help display their amazing creations for our community to enjoy!

By donating to this project you will give my budding artists independence in the studio and moments to shine out of the studio.

I follow a choice-based approach to art, where students can come up with their own ideas and ways of communicating those ideas through different media.

It really is amazing what they can do when you let them roll with the information and materials you provide them. They are able to talk to each other about their process, give feedback, connect to other artists, and problem-solve. Since opening the studio I have seen my students turn into artists! I would love to continue to provide this creative space for them and display their work for everyone to see.
