My Students

My students are amazing! They come with tenacity, creativity, and a wide variety of experiences and gifts. We work hard every day as scholars, artists, critical thinkers, and friends. Together we imagine new possibilities for our community, our country, and the world.

At our school, 96% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and 92% of the students are students of color.

My students have come from many different parts of the world including Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Ethiopia, Somalia, and the United States. The majority of my students are learning English as a second or third language.

My students are the engineers, pilots, dentists, poets, and architects of the future. These students have the capacity to achieve greatness.

My Project

My students need the opportunity of learning through multiple modalities. With a variety of art supplies such as rocks, paints, magnets and paint-by-sticker books they will be able to expand on the learning that we do in class and deepen their thinking. Time spent working on art projects is important to our collective experiences.

My students will use the paint-by-sticker books during our chapter book read aloud, which is truly one of the most community-building times of our day, a time when we're all together and creating collective experiences. The art activities and the sticker books will bring my students so much joy. It's great for practicing our small motor movement, patience and persistence.

Art is often the most effective way for my students who speak other languages in their homes (English Language Learners), to express their opinions and abilities. Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity!
