My Students

My students are between ages 5-12 and live in a large urban setting where more than three quarters of the students come from low income households. These students love art class and are interested in really exploring all of the different materials and all that the art world has to offer.

They are ambitious and determined to beat all obstacles that come their way.

Most of them love art because it is a safe haven where they can continue to grow, discover themselves and discover more of the world around them!

My Project

This year due to the pandemic, all of my students, new to the school and old, will lose the experience of learning art in the art room. In the art room we use the senses such as sight, sound, smell and hands-on materials to create a well rounded learning experience about the world around us. This new way of learning art will look different indefinitely, but I would still love to try to replicate a well rounded experience for them, while being on an art cart.

This mini projector and speaker would help with their learning in SO many ways, as it will be providing another form of a multi sensory learning experience!

It will allow me to show my k-5 classes power-points, educational clips (such as artists at work), reference photos of animals and nature, display visuals for brain breaks and display our Google classroom. It will also provide them for a new way to continue listening to calming instrumental music that corresponds with cultures we are exploring and to nurture their emotional and mental states, and so much more!

If schools take a step back towards remote learning, I will still be able to use this device in order to project things behind me while live teaching to help the student's experience of learning at home. Let's work together to keep the arts alive in our children!
