My Project

Art is an outlet for self expression, imagination, and creativity. Visual arts are very impactful for my students with autism spectrum disorder. It helps improve their cognition, fine motor skills, and communication. Art fits naturally with autism in that it can help my students express themselves through images while also being a soothing activity. I am so excited to begin a new position this school year that will allow me to teach art through wellness to different classes.

My students love to engage with various art materials to express themselves, demonstrate their knowledge, and increase their creativity.

Your generous contributions will provide my students with an organized art cart full of supplies to explore. The watercolor paint, watercolor crayons, and oil pastels will provide my students with wonderful opportunities to ignite their curiosity, create projects, build on their strengths, and enhance their self-expression that does not require verbal strengths. It will also provide students with the opportunity for social growth with their peers as they share and discuss their creations. The watercolor paper and non-spill paint containers allows my students to explore different types of paint, primary and secondary colors, tints, mixing colors and much more!
