Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school is a Title I school located in Venice, CA that has a new Visual Art Program. The students are bussed in from all over Los Angeles including South and East Los Angeles. The student population is primarily African- American and Latino. I, Ms. Hastie, have been building from the ground up for the past 2 years with amazing students. The students are excited to continue to work on painting projects, sculpture, mixed media projects, ceramics, and drawing. The students are in need of a Printing 3D Pen, Air Drying Clay, Pain Markers, Canvas Panels, and other art tools that build their psychomotor ability through Art. I have found that when the students have quality art materials, they feel more supported and engaged with their artwork. Art builds their self-confidence, sense of identity, problem-solving skills, and creativity.

By supporting this project, you will contribute to helping all the young students from kindergarten through 8th grade develop an important connection to their own creative power through a variety of art materials.

To honor their artwork, the school will be holding a Festival of the Arts night where all their artwork will be exhibited. A silent auction will be held for some of the Artwork to raise money to help the school with art and educational materials. Thank you very much!
