Kindergarteners need the opportunity to create, color, and draw. These basic skills allow them to express themselves and their thoughts and feelings as well as provide them with fine motor skills practice. Many kindergarten students could not attend preschool due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
My kindergarten students are developing their fine motor skills while learning to follow directions for directed drawing art lessons using their art journals.
The class sets of markers, crayons, and colored pencils along with the pencil sharpener and card stock will be great for color-by-addition and sight word worksheets as well as their number and letter crafts, which I use during ELA and math. My students are following the Choose Love model and they are learning different ways of showing kindness and compassion towards others by making a card or a special drawing to show they care and make someone's day a little brighter. These supplies will allow my students the freedom to use a variety of art mediums.
