Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our 4th graders are resilient. Coming back last year, after school closures due to the COVID 19 pandemic, many of our students are still dealing with the effects it left on their mental health. We plan to use the materials by teaching our students the basic elements of art such as line, shape, form, space, color, and texture. Then, we will teach them how to apply these skills by creating their own self portraits and their own abstract paintings. To deepen their knowledge, our students will explore by analyzing, making inferences and inquiring by making sense of other artists' art work. Lastly, we want to invite our students' families to our school and share their art pieces in an art gallery.

The art materials we are requesting will allow of students to create and think critically about the world they live in and how they can make a positive difference.

Expressing their feelings through art after being impacted by the pandemic will provide students a healthy way to deal with their emotions.
