My Students

My school has had such an influx of young children these past few years that we now have four Pre- Kindergarten classes! What a great thing for us Early Childhood teachers! We love being able to start molding young minds at such an early age!

Our school is a very diverse, multi-cultural, multi-language school filled with children who are eager to learn, parents who are eager to help and teachers who are excited about teaching.

Our school population consists of 10% English Language Learners, 10% Individual Education Plan students and 53% of our students qualify for free lunch.

This year, I am switching grades! I will now be teaching full day Pre-Kindergarten in my NYC school. Due to the extreme budget cuts we have been experiencing, I am in desperate need of art supplies and materials for my Pre-K class. These supplies will be very helpful to my students of varying socio-economic levels, language abilities and ethnicities. No matter what language they speak or where their family is from, art is something that all children can and do enjoy! I would love to be able to get them a variety of art supplies to foster their creativity, imagination and self-expression!

My Project

These art materials will make the Art Center in my classroom colorful, inviting and fun! They will enable my students to create individual pieces of art with a variety of mediums! Whether they are painting, drawing, cutting or gluing, my children will be able to have a ton of fun using things they may not have at home! After all, who doesn’t love Pom poms and google eyes? Creativity and imagination add so much excitement to a child’s learning experience. At the same time, they will also be enhancing their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
