Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Creating community, inquiry, and self awareness through art education. My students are thoughtful, creative, and voracious learners who are always interested in using new materials, trying on ideas and happy to work alongside me as we learn together.

Through online learning, we tackled concepts including self portraits, found-object art, art therapy techniques, data drawing collection (based on their own movements throughout a week), and drawing with music.

My Project

These items are essential to the young artist's practice as observer, experimenter, and maker. We focus on process based art making, centering on exploring themes of identity, community, and mindfulness.

These materials with be used for both at home and in-school use, so that students will have continuity between what we do at school and the materials they have available to them at home!

Students can use the sketch books at home to keep track of their thoughts and ideas about topics and artists so that we can have fuller discussions in class. Students will use their watercolors and colored pencils to explore their own techniques and styles within the sketchbooks and on their final works of art in class!
