Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At Whitman Elementary, we strive to provide our students with the tools they need to navigate their emotions and thrive academically and socially. Many of our students face challenges with anxiety, which can make it difficult for them to focus, connect with peers, and engage fully in their education. To support these students, we are seeking to create a safe and creative outlet through art journaling.

Art journaling combines artistic expression with personal reflection, offering students an opportunity to explore their feelings, reduce stress, and build resilience.

By incorporating art therapy techniques, we can empower students to better understand and manage their emotions in a supportive and nurturing environment.

We are requesting funding for art supplies, including journals, colored pencils, markers, paints, brushes, and other materials. These supplies will enable students to participate in guided art therapy sessions, which will be facilitated by our school social worker and other trained staff members. The sessions will focus on mindfulness, emotional expression, and building coping skills, helping students to develop lifelong strategies for managing anxiety.

Your support will make a lasting impact on the lives of our students, fostering their emotional well-being and enhancing their ability to succeed in school and beyond.
