Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Using mixed media, students will practice expressing themselves with regular journal prompts and assignments.

Art journaling is as eclectic and diverse as the students I serve.

Students will learn this art form as a tool for regulating and processing emotions as well as self expression and problem solving. These journals serve to create plans and drafts, practicing important executive functioning skills as well as CA based art standards of planning, carrying out and revising their own artwork.

Students will altar composition notebooks to make them their own and create a personal statement and creative narrative.

Through this project students will also be taught skills like sewing and mixed media collage in addition to many other applications. The supplies list is diverse because the projects involved are diverse to match our student population and their needs and desires.

The practice of journaling is a positive creative outlet that students will take with them as a productive social emotional tool they can use beyond the classroom and after graduation.
