Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am currently an art teacher in the Bronx. The young artists are very diverse in their interests and future aspirations. Some of my students are learning to read, write, and count, while some of their classmates are exploring higher levels of art. Our student body fosters a sense of family and inclusion for all. Each day there is a new learning day with opportunity.
We are part of a larger school that accommodates inclusion students as well as those with physical needs.
I teach as a push-in art teacher for the high school. As my young artists explore through art they experiment and practice higher-level thinking by utilizing their problem-resolution skills. My classroom is about inclusion and giving all students the opportunity to explore the arts, as well as discover through experimentation.
My Project
Listed are light boxes for the students to use. In the past, we used to use the classroom windows or doors in order to trace an image. But, due to COVID and social distancing few students have the opportunity to have a turn.
By supplying light boxes to students we will be able to have a stable light box regardless of the weather.
Moreover, by tracing students can practice their fine motor skills as well as gaining confidence little by little in their abilities to create art in our classrooms.
