My Students

I’ve have a great group of sweet, loving second graders! You wouldn't believe how much they love coming to in-person school. We have been bouncing back and forth between remote and in-person school all year. My students always return to in-person learning with huge smiles, full of positive energy. And so, I am trying to fill their learning experiences with fun and creativity. Their social emotional well being is just as important as their physical health.

My Project

Studies show that art in the classroom is important for a student's well-being. Specifically, an increase in art educational experiences impacts a students’ academic, social, and emotional outcomes. Students that receive art education have fewer disciplinary infractions, improved standardized writing scores, and an increase in their compassion for others. Students who received more art education experiences are more interested in how other people feel and more likely to want to help people who are treated badly.

Due to the stress and anxiety created by the pandemic, I want to use art to heal their little hearts.

I want to give my students these art materials to incorporate art in our class activities to give them an outlet for their emotions and creativity.
