My Students

My students are an amazing group of hard working kids. They love to question and make connections. Their creativity and compassion is phenomenal.

As their teacher, I try to help them not only learn to love math but to discover their creativity and passion in other areas; including art.

I would like to give my students the opportunity to express themselves through painting with acrylics. By creating a piece of visual art, they will gain confidence in their own abilities.

My Project

Many of the students I teach have little access to art outside of school. Although I teach them math, I also take opportunities to help them appreciate visual arts and find their own sparks of creativity.

Everyone needs some type of art in their lives to bring joy to their heart.

Pablo Picasso said, "Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life."

My students quickly learn that art doesn't have to be perfect, and it doesn't have to look one certain way. They also learn that they don't have to be good at reading or math to be artistic. Often, a student who is lower academically, is discovered to be an amazing artist. My students all become more courageous and ambitious in their art; which transfers over to their academic areas.
