Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Our school is not located in a town; it is, however, the center of our community. Many people rely on it and its staff for much needed support. Seventy-seven percent of our students are from low socioeconomic families.
For several years, we have been part of a grant that provided after-school care for families that have no where else to turn for care while they are working.
This year, we lost that grant, as did most of the rural schools in our region. Our administration recognized the hardship this would put on many families. They brought this situation to the school board, and together came up with a plan to fund our own program.
We focus on academic help the first hour, but enrichment activities the second. Since the district has gone above and beyond for these families, I would like to ask for help in purchasing art supplies for our after school kids.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
