My Project

At UAI, many students have limited access to the arts. Despite the fact that art is proven to foster creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression, our school currently lacks dedicated art classes and resources for students to explore this essential form of learning. Our school community has an abundance of talent and enthusiasm for artistic endeavors, but without the materials and opportunities to nurture these interests, many students are missing out on the transformative power of art education.

This project aims to provide a wide range of art experiences for our students, both during the school day and after hours, coordinated by the equity team.

The supplies will be used for projects to celebrate each themed month. For example, students will design totes for women’s history month to shop at women-owned businesses, create model clay snakes for Lunar New Year, create a quilt for Black History Month, design shirts and bracelets for PRIDE, decorate pots for Earth Day, and design notebooks for poetry month. In addition, supplies were purchased for a mural club and art club in the middle school. These hands-on art projects will allow students to express themselves, build confidence, and connect with their peers in new and exciting ways.
