My Project

Hi! I'm Ms. T, a kindergarten teacher at a public school in Harlem. I do a lot of project-based art activities with students during our Social Emotional Learning Block in class. The items that I am requesting, are mainly arts and craft items, academic center/station items, and sensory items. My little artists have expressed themselves in many ways with the items that were donated through our first project, but we are currently running very low on items that the students use often. Donating to our second project will allow my students to continue to learn through the arts and express themselves in creative ways. We would also like to use items to create student driven art that will be used for decoration purposes at our Moving up Ceremony in June. I believe strongly in student driven work, and through art, students will showcase their wide ranges of unique art abilities that will bring light to what will be an amazing ceremony. The sensory and academic items will be used to help students who need special accommodations to cope with some of the trauma they have faced while being out of school during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has caused them needing a great deal of adjustment to catch up socially, emotionally, and academically. We hope to receive support for our classroom, so that we can continue to dream, create, and brighten up the world with individually created art pieces.
