Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are always excited to start a new art project! Many of them do not have access to art supplies at home, so my classroom is the only place they have that offers them the opportunity to create art using all different materials. Despite their personal hardships, they come to class excited to see what they will create! I love when they tell me that they wish they could come to art everyday and that they love my projects! They become very excited when they are given a choice to choose multiple materials and painting is everyone’s favorite!

My Project

These materials will allow my students to create beautiful art work using materials they have never used before! I plan on using the Gelli plates to create mono prints with my students having them use texture tools to create unique prints. The bamboo brushes and ink will be used to introduce my older students to the beauty of Chinese brush painting. It will also allow me to teach my students about another culture. My school district has a sister school in Japan where we send student art work every year! The project will be a wonderful connection to this yearly event!
