My Project

I just attended the Infosys Pathfinders 2023 Summer Institute, and I'm stoked! The Hummingbird Robotics Kits from Birdbrain Technologies will solve so many problems for my middle-school computer science and STEAM students! We normally have to connect our Micro:bits with servos and LEDs that require alligator clips and jump wires, which often fall apart with the barest touch or are difficult for the students to understand without a lot of help. This requires me to troubleshoot their circuits and help them rewire them. While I do my best to get their circuits back on track, there's only one of me and most of my students need help to make their circuits work.

With the Micro:bit and Hummingbird controller combined, however, students only need to learn where the wires go and clip them into the appropriate ports.

Hummingbird controllers have extremely stable connections that don't require soldering or heat-shrink tubing to keep them safely in place. These microcontrollers also eliminate the need for resistors and the calculations required to determine which resistors are needed for each circuit.

Also, with the Hummingbird Kit, it becomes impossible to fry the Micro:bits, servos, sensors, or LEDs because all the resistors are built in. Not having to worry about overloaded circuits, potential burns or injuries, fried Micro:bits, soldering, or LEDs exploding would be such an incredible gift to my peace of mind!

I can only imagine the incredible robot petting zoo that students will be able to create this year. Instead of hassling with cable/wire management, determining the correct resistors to use, and wiring the circuits correctly, students would be able to put ALL their effort into creating and coding projects that they're proud of. Thank you so much for considering a donation to our project!
