Resilient, curious and diverse- that's how I describe my 250 students. My visual arts classroom is filled with students from many cultures. Through art we learn about identity, we practice empathy, we celebrate our different cultures and we learn from each other's perspectives and experiences.
"It is because art is and has always been the thing that sustains us, the thing that gives us language that we otherwise don't have the vocabulary for, it is the thing that connects people around this common moment, this common feeling, this common melody..." Dr. Clint Smith III.
My Project
Our students have created visual art campaigns that celebrates their diverse set of cultures, honors people that look like them, and empowers movements they believe in. All campaigns are rooted in equality, dignity, diversity, truth, and beauty.
Help amplify the voices of students.
These screen printing supplies will give our students the chance to see their campaigns come to life. Students have envisioned their campaign art on large posters and t-shirts, with the goal of sharing it all throughout our school and local community. Each campaign promotes equity, empathy, and inclusion.
