My Students

Have you ever been to another country, to an exotic island, or to amazing wonder of the world? It took your breathe away right? Help to take my students to all of those places with the vivid and real life photos and maps found in these amazing fact-filled atlases.

My students are the most amazing kids in the world.

All of them come into my room with so much "life" all around them, but some how they leave it all behind and are engaged in the learning process from the word go! I teach at a small, inner city, Title I school in South Carolina. There are lots of students at or below the poverty line, but all of our students are exceptionally bright and constantly amaze us. I know that many of them have never been out of our town, much less to the exotic places I am supposed to teach them about as we learn the continents. These atlases are AMAZING and will help me to take them to the world's most amazing places. No one introduces students to the world around us better than National Geographic! These students deserve the best and these books will help me give them that as we explore the world this year in 2nd grade!

My Project

Last year as we studied the continents, I showed my students pictures of my trip to Africa. After they got over the shock of me being in a plane for so long, they were in awe of the places and things I showed them. I took them to a place that they never knew existed. They learned language, culture, foods, and traditions from a place that in there mind was only in a movie. I can only imagine all the discussions, plans, ideas, and learning that will take place once the first page of these atlases are opened. I can hear the ooo's and ahhh's now! They are gonna love these.

This project is so important to me because it is going to be so beneficial to my kids this year, and the next, and the next.

These atlases will be far reaching not only in my class but in my grade level. There are 4 classes and the books will be shared among 80 students per year. Fund this project today and know that your small gift will make a huge lasting impact on the education of students in my class and school for years to come!!!
