My Students
My students are inquisitive, curious, and fun-loving second graders who learn best when doing hands-on, engaging activities. As English language learners, projects are so vital to their learning and time is often spent making concepts tangible and relatable.
My second graders are avid readers, enthusiastic mathematicians and budding scientists who are always eager to learn.
They enjoy researching new topics and learning about new places. There’s always a palpable energy in my classroom everytime a new project or experiment is introduced. They can’t wait to get started on the newest unit or latest STEAM project.
My Project
I am requesting an Apple iPod Touch and 10 Virtual Reality Headsets to make the world come alive for my students. Although we read lots of books and do research on various landforms and bodies of water around the world, I’d love to give them the experience of “visiting” these places by utilizing the Google Expeditions app.
The headsets and the iPod Touch will be used in small groups to take virtual field trips to mountain ranges, oceans, valleys, and so much more!
My eager, English Language Learners would greatly benefit from having real world experiences and traveling to places in our world that they may never get to experience in real life.
