This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to remote learning via Zoom each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!

My Project

The Apple pencil is a digital stylus that can be used with iPads. The precision of this tool allows students to clearly show their thinking by creating digital diagrams and models.

My class of 8th graders, working in a remote learning environment, will be using the Apple Pencils to create screencasts, demonstrating to peers how to troubleshoot iPads, provide lunch time workshops teaching how to use new apps, etc.

During the Remote Learning breakout rooms/station rotations, students will be divided into small groups: working on project-based learning activities, using adaptive software, and meeting with the teacher for individualized instruction. Having a set of Apple Pencils available at a station will give the students an opportunity to collaborate freely and more intentionally.

Beyond using the pencils for RemoteLearning in breakout room/stations, students will be able to incorporate principles of design thinking into their STEAM Project. They will create visual prototypes to communicate their innovative design ideas, receive formative feedback, and refine their creations. The Apple Pencils will allow them to creatively express their ideas while gaining valuable digital graphic design skills that may prepare them for future careers.
