Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day at GFE begins with an Opening Routine activity. Students are engaged from the moment the bell rings. Our routine is the same everyday. Structure is essential to accomplish all tasks.

My First graders are great readers, they enjoy reading and taking AR tests; However our school does not have a big selection of books for the lower grade levels.

First graders need to have access to books ranging from 0.5 to 1.9 or higher. Obtaining on grade level books will encourage students to continue reading and to improve comprehension.

My Project

Every grading period, my first graders need to meet a goal of 10 AR points. In order to meet this goal students need to read at least 20 AR books, for each test that they take students earn 0.5 points. Students can not take the same test twice. This means that students must have access to lots and lots of books at their reading level.

This project will make a difference because I will continue to use the books every year.

Future students will have access to a great library. The benefit will not end with my current students.
