Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our first-grade curriculum, hands-on learning takes center stage, allowing students to explore and understand their surroundings deeply. Project-based learning immerses them in meaningful real-world projects, aligning perfectly with their goal of comprehending the functions of living things.

Our upcoming project introduces students to aquaponics, a fascinating concept that mimics natural ecosystems.

Here's the magic: Students will choose their class fish from a pet shop. These fish will become partners in creating mini aquaponics systems, showcasing the beautiful balance between fish and plants. 🐟🌿

The fish's meals produce "fish waste," which becomes a nutritious feast for the plants. As plants grow, they repay the favor by purifying the water for the fish. This relationship comes alive as students craft mini aquaponics systems using mason jars.

Through this project, we aim for students not only to witness the dynamic interaction between living things but also to cultivate a deeper understanding of our world's delicate connections. This mini aquaponics adventure introduces them to the wonder of aquatic teamwork.
