My Project

This school year, students at the Philadelphia Juvenile Justice Services Center are participating in a SEL program called 7 mindsets. We have seen a shift in the culture at the school and the students language. We want to continue this positive shift by implementing a reward program for their outstanding work and challenging themselves to grow. We are tapping into the positivity and LOVING it! It is imperative that we continue to speak positivity into our students and help them explore a mental growth mindset.

My students are adjudicated youth.

They are males and females whose ages range from eleven to twenty. 7 mindsets deep-dives into some emotional conversations that these students have never had with themselves or adults they felt safe with. There is a sense of vulnerability that comes with tapping into your emotions. Once a student opens up and we see breakthrough, he/she deserves to be RECOGNIZED.

At the Philadelphia Juvenile Justice Center Service School we pride ourselves on making the best of a challenging situation.

We encourage our students to dive deeper in the understanding of their social and emotional wellbeing throughout our weekly studies with 7 mindsets. The 7 mindsets help us to build a common community language within the building. The 7 mindsets that we explore are Everything is possible, Passion First, We Are Connected, 100% Accountable, Attitude of Gratitude, Live To Give, and The Time is Now. This program is also aligned with the district's PBIS program.

This project will help us fund reward programs for individual winners of 7 mindsets, PBIS, as well as 7 mindset Olympic winners. They will get to enjoy game days, make your own t shirt, medals, movie day, special personal need items, and many other fun rewards.
