My Students

Every speech session I start off asking "what is your goal for the day and how will it help you reach success." I would love it if by the end of the year each one of my students met their Individualized Education Program goals.

My students are iMazing!

They are each unique and special in their own way. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autistic spectrum disorder, learning disabled, intellectual deficient , and speech-language impaired are just some of the disabilities that affect some of the students I work with in my classroom. I am a speech therapist working in a New York City public school. My students are all so eager to learn and grow yet each have their own style of learning in order to acquire new skills.

My Project

Having an iPad in my classroom will allow my students to work independently on a specific goal. They will be able to show progress whether they are working on following directions, categorizing, answering questions, or phonemic awareness skills. There are so many apps that are available to my students that can be supplemental to their curriculum.

Having an iPad in my classroom will help my students reach success when they never thought it would be possible.

Many of them have already shown improvement using specific websites and DVDs. They walk away from my speech class with more confidence and a smile on their face. The iPad will enhance their rate of progress and will make learning fun.
