My Students

I started the year with a hybrid schedule, like most teachers, but now my students are in class full-time. We are socially distanced, wearing masks, and doing our best to make this 6th-grade year remarkable.

I love my students' positive attitudes and their excitement to learn.

They are brave, curious, hard-working, and want to be successful in all that they do. I have students from all different socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnicities, nuclear families, and personal circumstances. I have a chatty class this year but I love all their questions and excitement to socialize and learn.

It is my distinct honor to be able to teach 6th grade and help these students become the best people they can be. I am so proud of all my students and I love teaching 6th grade.

My Project

I teach 6th grade which is a very important year in solidifying math principles. I have found that many students are intimidated by math and therefore do not usually have a growth mindset when it comes to learning math.

I love making math come alive by teaching how we use math every day, in almost everything we do.

My goal is to make each student love math because it teaches problem solving, which makes life more fun, easier, and less stressful ... which is the opposite of how most people see math. A 3D printer is a great way to apply math principles such as ratios, dimensions, proportions, geometry, and basic equations. Students will learn how to use math to convert ideas into real-life 3D projects.

As a teacher, I would also use a 3D printer for math manipulatives and models. If students can see, touch, and explore, then the lessons they are receiving are learned not just memorized. A 3D printer would also help students understand science, technology, problem solving, and applied learning.
