Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are 2nd graders living in New York City. Students in our classroom are eager and excited to have the chance to participate, learn, and develop skills in the field of technology.

A great percentage of students in our classroom are economically disadvantaged and have limited opportunities to work with technology of any sort.

With today's job market, there is an ever expanding need for young adults in the field of technology. Employers are eager to hire these young but extremely knowledgeable computer experts. Those who are never even given a fair chance to get these now "basic" skills will be at that much more of a disadvantage. An iPad is the the easiest way to engage our students in learning how to use coding and programming apps in which they can gain this necessary knowledge as they grow and eventually enter the workforce.

My Project

If funded, we will use our new new Apple iPad in a variety of ways. There are endless opportunities within the realm of educational apps out there that our students can benefit from. We are also excited at the potential to learn programming and coding in a school with very little exposure to STEM activities. Our bright and talented students are grateful for every thing that they have and there is no question in my mind that they deserve something fun, special and exciting for all of their hard work that will not only light up their eyes but also their brains.
