Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My NYC public school students live in a neighborhood which contains NYC's largest low income housing community. In their day-to-day lives, some can see a lot of ugliness, and the majority of them find school a safe way to escape that.

As their teacher, I recognize my students as smart, creative individuals who have the potential to shatter the "kid from the projects" stereotype.

They can move on and become well-educated productive members of society. My goal is for them to be able to have choices which they never thought was possible.

My Project

We have some newly acquired technology thanks to DonorsChoose.org. We have 2 iPad minis. The students really enjoy making projects about various aspects of the environment and presenting them to our class using these pieces of technology. With an Apple TV and adapter my students will be able to share their creations with the whole class. I also envision them using this resource to ask their peers for feedback on their work. The Apple TV will make our iPads even more hands-on and mobile.

This piece of technology will not just allow students to show off their hard work, it will allow them to experience being a real presenter!
