My Project

Apparently many things "went missing" in this school after COVID. When I started at my school a year ago, there were only student desks, a computer table with a computer, a smartboard, and a table for the teacher. I left many supplies from my 12 years of teaching behind due to a big move. I also started two weeks in and did not have the opportunity to prepare as I normally do. Our children are from lower-income families and many supplies on the school supply list were not brought in.

My room would have been bare were it not for a generous family member and a colleague who saw a need and stepped in to help.

My sister stocked about 80% of the class library with donations throughout the year. My immediate supervisor supplied the day-to-day items such as dry-erase sleeves, dry-erase erasers, pencils, a mailbox, etc., to enhance learning and engage students.

I would like to continue building the classroom with games of enrichment, extra large dry-erase post-its to get the kids UP and in small groups, more books to grab the attention of the self-proclaimed non-readers, as well as cater to the ELLs I will have, and other items to pique the interest of my incoming 10-year-olds.
