My Project

This project would be used to help AP Government students connect together concepts that are hard in a way that gives them the opportunity to see the big picture. By creating a game students will be more engaged. Students enjoy games when learning because it's different than just a regular lesson without knowing they are really learning new stuff, and it helps me too!

Hexagonal thinking is a great way to have students think critically about all of the content that we've learned.

They may not realize how it all fits together, so this activity literally forces them to do that. They are given a list of 20 - 25 concepts/documents/titles or content from a unit and then are asked to connect all of them together like a puzzle and then explain it at the end with a "big connections," reflection that they turn in. The materials to make this game are the Hexagon Hex Board Game Chits Tiles Counters Markers DIY D&Ds, the storage bins to keep them in, the dry erase markers and erasers for the students to write the concepts on the tiles, and notebooks for reflections.

Some of the other supplies are for my psychology class to also play games that can make learning more fun than just a sit and get lesson.

I like to have activities where the students are seeing learning from a different perspective. Using the bubbles, students will get to play with them, but also be tasked with answering several different questions about how a question on a bubble can resemble a different perspective or course of action that we will study in psychology.

The bean bags will be used for students in a sensory lab.
