Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are diving deep into the controversies surrounding social and environmental injustices that they and others in their generation are poised to inherit. They are ready to change the world!

Students in my 7th grade Social Studies classroom are fired up about injustices around them.

I teach several classes of students from Queens with family roots from all over the world. They want to connect more, learn deeply and have an impact on the world around them.

My Project

This crazy school year will continue to be full of unforeseen challenges. But, we will also get to work more closely than ever with students in small groups. Our small "pods" will develop into true communities. We'll get to know them deeply and we will spend much of our time together. Our Stamped book club will enrich our community daily. I am requesting 20 copies the book Stamped by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi.

Reading Stamped together will help us strengthen our conversations about world events and support and process much of the social emotional learning that our students have been doing already this year.
